STRENGTHS MAP

Every team needs different people. Rate yourself on each strength below โ€” be honest. As you rate, your live "Top 3" appears at the top. When you're done, we'll match you to your team role.

๐Ÿค Why teams beat individuals every time

No matter how strong you are, a team that knows what each person brings will out-perform a stronger individual working solo. The data is consistent: collaborative teams hit goals 5x more often than those without role clarity.

The reason is simple โ€” different people see different things. Where the Connector sees a relationship problem, the Anchor sees a process problem, and the Innovator sees an opportunity. Same situation, three different solutions.

  • Diverse strengths catch more risks AND more opportunities
  • People who know their role show up sharper and contribute more
  • Teammates who recognize others' strengths build trust faster

๐ŸŽญ The 4 team roles you'll meet (and become)

Most workplace teams need a mix of these archetypes. After you rate yourself, we'll match you to the one that fits your top strengths best โ€” but most people are a blend.

๐Ÿค
The Connector
The glue
Reads the room, hears what isn't being said, makes sure everyone feels heard. Teams trust them to bridge differences.
โš“
The Anchor
The steady one
Catches the details, keeps systems running, makes sure the boring-but-critical stuff doesn't slip. No anchor, no team.
๐Ÿ’ก
The Innovator
The spark
Sees what isn't there yet. Reframes problems. When the team is stuck, they find a new way through.
๐Ÿงญ
The Captain
The direction-setter
Sets the tone, makes the call, adjusts the plan without losing the team. Knows when to lead and when to make space.
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ
The Multi-Tool
The 5th role ยท the flexible one
Jumps in wherever the team needs help. Adapts fast across whatever role is empty. Rarer than people think โ€” and exactly who you want when things shift.
๐ŸŽฏ Match the Strength to the Role

Now test what you just read. For each strength below, tap the role where that person would shine most. 6 quick rounds.

Strength 1 of 6 โ€” A teammate who listens carefully, picks up on what isn't being said, and helps everyone feel heard.
Strength 2 of 6 โ€” Someone obsessed with details โ€” they catch the small mistakes that would have cost the team big.
Strength 3 of 6 โ€” When the team is stuck, they reframe the problem and propose something nobody else had thought of.
Strength 4 of 6 โ€” Sets direction in moments of uncertainty. People look to them when nobody knows what to do next.
Strength 5 of 6 โ€” Doesn't have one specialty โ€” they jump in wherever the team needs help and adapt fast.
Strength 6 of 6 โ€” Bridges differences between teammates with different styles โ€” translates between them so nobody feels misunderstood.

Your Team Role

โญ YOUR TOP 3 STRENGTHS

๐ŸŒฑ YOUR BOTTOM 3 โ€” WHERE TO GROW

These aren't weaknesses โ€” they're your stretch zones. Pick one to work on over the next 90 days.

๐Ÿ’ก How to use your strengths in a real interview

You just figured out your top 3 strengths and your team role. Tomorrow's job interview is where you actually use them. This section is your playbook โ€” bookmark it, practice it, bring it with you to Day 5.

Why this matters: 9 out of 10 interviewers ask about your strengths. How you answer reveals your self-awareness โ€” which employers value almost as much as the strength itself.

      ๐Ÿงฑ The Formula

"One of my biggest strengths is [strength]. I learned that about myself when [short specific story with a result]. On your team, I'd use that to [what you'd contribute here]."

Why it works: three pieces โ€” claim, proof, application. Most candidates only do the claim. The proof and application are what land the job.

๐Ÿ“ 3 Real Examples (steal these patterns)

      Reliability

"One of my biggest strengths is reliability. I had perfect attendance for 14 months at Kroger โ€” never missed a shift, even when I covered for sick coworkers last-minute. On your team, you'll know that when I commit to something, it gets done."

      Communication / connection

"One of my biggest strengths is connecting with people. When I volunteered at the YMCA, I worked with 20+ kids across all ages and built trust fast with anxious parents at pickup. On your team, I'd be someone clients feel comfortable talking to."

      Problem-solving / adaptability

"One of my biggest strengths is figuring things out under pressure. At my last job, our POS system went down on a Saturday rush โ€” I switched the team to manual cash transactions in under 10 minutes and we didn't lose a single customer. On your team, I'd be the one who keeps things moving when something breaks."

๐ŸŽฏ Where it Comes Up (5 common interview prompts)

      • "Tell me about yourself" โ€” start with 1โ€“2 of your strengths, supported by stories
      • "What's your biggest strength?" โ€” direct prompt; use the formula straight
      • "What would your teammates say about you?" โ€” frame answer around top 3 strengths
      • "Tell me about a time you helped your team succeed" โ€” lead with the strength that drove the success
      • "Why should we hire you?" โ€” your top 3 strengths + how each connects to the role

      ๐Ÿšซ What NOT to Say

      "I'm a hard worker."
Everyone says this. Tells the interviewer nothing.
      "I'm a perfectionist."
Clichรฉ โ€” and many hear "micromanager / slow."
      "I'm a team player."
Vague. Show it with a story instead.
      "I have no weaknesses."
Reads as zero self-awareness. Death sentence.

      โœ… Tonight's Homework โ€” Practice It

      • Pick your top 3 strengths from above (the print-out makes this easy)
      • For each strength, write two real stories โ€” short ones, with a measurable result if possible
      • Say each story out loud โ€” into your phone's voice recorder, or in front of a mirror, or with a friend
      • Goal: be able to tell any of your 6 stories in under 90 seconds without notes
      • Bring all 6 to Day 5 โ€” we use the STAR Method to polish them into pro interview answers

      ๐Ÿ“ Download the Homework Sheet

We built a printable worksheet so you can do this homework on paper. Print it once, write your 6 stories tonight, and bring the filled-in sheet to Day 5.

      Module 2 of 4
      TEAM PLAYS

A great team puts the right person on the right task. Click a teammate, then click the task that fits their strengths. Mismatch and the team stalls โ€” nail it and the work flies. You've got 4 teammates and 4 tasks.

๐Ÿงฉ Why pairing right matters more than you think

Putting the wrong person on the right task isn't just inefficient โ€” it's expensive. Research from Gallup shows teams that match work to strengths are 12.5% more productive and report 3x higher engagement.

      • People assigned to work that fits their strengths are 6x more likely to feel engaged at work
      • Mismatches cause silent burnout โ€” the person doesn't usually say "this isn't for me," they just disengage
      • Smart team leaders ask three questions before dividing work: Who's strongest at this? Who needs the stretch? Who's already at capacity?

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ How great teams actually communicate

Strong teams aren't the loudest ones โ€” they're the ones with clean handoffs. Five communication habits separate high-functioning teams from chaotic ones:

      • Confirm in writing. Verbal agreements + a follow-up text or message. "Just to confirm โ€” I'll handle X by Friday."
      • Surface problems early. Don't wait until the deadline. Flag a stall the same day you spot it.
      • Ask, don't assume. If you're not sure what someone meant, ask. Better awkward now than messy later.
      • Own the handoff. When you pass work to someone else, make sure they have what they need.
      • Celebrate wins out loud. Recognition is free โ€” and it's the cheapest team-building tool you have.
      ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Your Team
      ๐Ÿ“‹ Today's Tasks
Click a teammate, then click a task to assign them.
      ๐Ÿ’ก THE COORDINATION RULE

Good teams ask three questions before they divide work:

      1. Who's strongest at what?
      2. Who needs the stretch?
      3. Who's already at capacity?

The wrong person on the right task is just as costly as the right person on the wrong task. Match thoughtfully.

      ๐Ÿšง Spot the Team Breakdown

Three short workplace scenarios โ€” each one shows a team that broke down. Your job: pick the move that would have prevented it. Click your answer, see what worked, then advance.

Scenario 1 โ€” The Vague Handoff.

Maya was running a customer-outreach project with Devon. She sent him a quick text: "Can you handle the client follow-ups?" Devon thought she meant NEW clients โ€” she meant EXISTING ones. Two weeks later, half the existing clients hadn't been contacted. The whole project missed its deadline.

      What would have prevented this?
Scenario 2 โ€” The Silent Slacker.

On Aaliyah's team, one member kept missing deadlines. Nobody said anything during the project. People privately complained but never raised it with him. The project failed.

      What would have prevented this?
Scenario 3 โ€” The Bottleneck Boss.

On Marcus's team, every decision โ€” even small ones โ€” had to go through the team lead. The lead was busy, so the team waited days for answers. Energy died. Deadlines slipped.

      What would have prevented this?

      DAILY PLANNER

Time is like money โ€” you can spend it, waste it, or invest it. Fill each block with what matters tomorrow. We'll print you a Day Plan you can screenshot, print, or rewrite every day.

โฐ Time is your most valuable currency โ€” spend it on purpose

You can earn more money. You cannot earn more time. The average American adult has about 5.5 hours of "free" time per day after work, sleep, and basic care. How you spend those hours decides everything โ€” your career, your health, your relationships.

      • Spend it: work, learning, building skills, helping others
      • Waste it: doomscrolling, passive TV, complaining
      • Invest it: sleep, exercise, reading, building toward a goal

The goal isn't to do everything. It's to do the right things at the right time. That's what planning is for.

๐ŸŽฏ The Eisenhower Matrix โ€” sort your day in 4 boxes

President Eisenhower had to make life-or-death decisions every day. He invented this 4-box system to sort what to do first. It still works.

      ๐Ÿ”ฅ Urgent + Important
      DO NOW
Deadlines today, crises, your interview tomorrow. Drop everything else.
      ๐Ÿ“… Important ยท Not Urgent
      SCHEDULE
Exercise, studying, learning a new skill, working on your rรฉsumรฉ. THIS is where growth happens.
      ๐Ÿค Urgent ยท Not Important
      DELEGATE
Most emails, most meetings, most text messages. Hand them off or batch them.
๐Ÿšซ Not Urgent ยท Not Important
      DELETE
Social media doomscrolling, drama, random YouTube. Most of your "lost time" lives here.

Bottom line: most people spend their time in the "Urgent ยท Not Important" box. Winners shift their time to "Important ยท Not Urgent" โ€” the planning, learning, and growth box.

      ๐Ÿ” Time-blocking 101 โ€” assign every hour a job

Time-blocking means you schedule TIME on your calendar โ€” not just tasks on a to-do list. "9:00โ€“10:00 โ€” Job applications" beats "send out applications today" because it gives the work a real home.

      • Block your priorities first โ€” before email, before texts, before anyone else's needs
      • Block in 60โ€“90 min chunks. Your brain works best in focused stretches
      • Include break blocks too. A 15-min walk-and-water break every 90 min is non-negotiable
      • Don't over-schedule. Leave 30% of your day empty โ€” that's where life happens

The 80/20 rule (Pareto): 80% of your results come from 20% of your tasks. Find the 20% that matters most and protect that time fiercely.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Sort Into Quadrants โ€” Eisenhower Game

Now apply the matrix. 6 real-world tasks. For each, pick which quadrant it belongs in. The right answer reveals after you click, with a quick explanation.

Task 1 of 6 โ€” Your job interview is tomorrow morning at 9 AM. You haven't prepped your STAR-method answers yet.
Task 2 of 6 โ€” Studying for a certification exam that's 3 months away. Important for your career path.
Task 3 of 6 โ€” Scrolling Instagram during a 30-minute window where you'd planned to work on your rรฉsumรฉ.
Task 4 of 6 โ€” A coworker asks if you can grab their phone calls during your scheduled lunch break.
Task 5 of 6 โ€” Going to bed at a consistent 10:30 PM tonight โ€” same as you've been trying to do all month.
Task 6 of 6 โ€” Watching the next episode of a show at 11 PM when you have work at 7 AM.

      TIME TRAPS

Everyone has a time trap. The question is which one. Answer these 6 honestly โ€” no judgment โ€” and we'll reveal your biggest trap with strategies tailored to it. Self-awareness is the whole game.

๐Ÿง  The science of distraction โ€” why your brain LOVES being interrupted

Every time you check your phone, your brain gets a tiny hit of dopamine โ€” the same chemical released by food and other pleasures. Apps are designed to maximize this. That's why "just one more swipe" turns into 45 minutes.

      • The average person checks their phone 144 times a day (Asurion Research)
      • It takes 23 minutes to fully refocus after a single interruption (UC Irvine study)
      • Multitasking drops productivity by up to 40% and increases errors

The fix isn't willpower โ€” it's environment. Move your phone out of sight. Close tabs. Turn off notifications. The work is easier when the distractions aren't right there.
